How to transfer the ownership of Squarespace website

Transferring the ownership of a Squarespace website is a common practice when you need to hand over the website to a new owner. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of transferring the ownership of a Squarespace website.

Log in to your Squarespace account and click on the Settings option.

On the settings page, click on the Permissions option.

Now, Click on the Invite Contributor button to invite the user to whom you want to transfer the ownership of the Squarespace website.

In the invite contributor modal, enter the name and email address of the user you want to add as a contributor. You can also configure the type of permissions you want to grant the contributor.

After filling in the details, click Invite.

An email invite will be sent to the specific user. The name of user will get listed under the contributors category. Here you can cancel the invite request and can also see whether the user has accepted the invitation

Now to transfer the ownership of the squarespace website to the user, click the Transfer Ownership button right next to the current owner’s profile.

Authenticate with your Squarespace account credentials to proceed with the transfer process.

After successful authentication, the transfer ownership modal opens up. In the modal, select the name of the user to whom you want to transfer the account to from the drop-down option and click Continue.

A confirmation modal will open up asking you to confirm your transfer process. Click Confirm to proceed with the transfer.

Once the transfer process is complete, the newly transferred owner will have full access to the website and can manage it.

It's important to note that transferring ownership of a Squarespace website will also transfer billing responsibility to the new owner. If you have an active subscription, the new owner will need to update the billing information to ensure uninterrupted service.
